He is averaging 145x coverage of each cannabis plant genome in our library using Pacific Bioscience's Sequel II next generation single molecule real time sequencer. What does that mean? Every A, T, C, and G making up a plant's unique DNA is read and identified 145 times to ensure accuracy. This raw data is shared with Kelly Vining's genomics lab at Oregon State University for assembly and identification of the genes behind our novel chemotype plants.
