As we say at the farm, the best fertilizer seems to be a farmer's footsteps in the field. That said, everyone wants to give their plants the best in order to thrive. As with all aspects of hemp farming, there is no exact formula for all to follow – but we can share what we find works with our particular field environment and goals.

We first have our soil tested prior to planting to identify our field's needs.  Starting with a healthy soil saves money in the long run. For amendments and fertilizers we stick to organic products, not only to keep soil healthy for years to come, but also because they are also more forgiving on plants and can greatly reduce the risk of nutrient burns.  The cost of fertilizing a field at scale can really add up, so we always try to keep it lean. Remember to filter your nutrients prior to running them through your drip lines flush with fresh water after each feed.

Lastly, because our varieties commence flowering in July, we always discontinue using high nitrogen fertilizers after mid July unless necessary for plant health. Prolonged use will delay flowering time and lead to spindlier flower formation.

Field Amendments
All-purpose dry amendment (5-4-3, 5-3-2, etc.)- between 500 lbs and 2000 lbs per acre depending on spreading technique and planting date

In the Greenhouse
All-purpose fish/plant based liquid fertilizer (5-1-1, 4-3-2, 3-3-3, etc) at half strength, after week 2 of plants being above soil – work your way up to full dose if plants don’t burn

Water wheel planter nutrients
Vitamin B1
Mycorrhizae
Liquid Kelp
All-purpose fish/plant based liquid fertilizer

June until mid July (every other watering)
All-purpose fish/plant based liquid fertilizer - strained to prevent clogging in drip lines

Mid July to September (every other watering)
